Conducting an initial assessment is a critical first step before direct therapy begins. During this process, we will conduct parent/caregiver interviews, observe the child in their natural environments, and observe interactions between parents/caregivers and the child. This will give us the information to begin developing an individualized program. Some of the assessment tools we may use include:
Home-Based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is intensive one-on-one teaching in the child’s natural environment. Each program is individualized to meet the needs of the child to increase communication, daily living skills, social/emotional skills, and adaptive behavior. The following are some of the teaching methods we use:
Early intervention services are for children 0-3 years old and are provided in the home. Under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), Part C, this service is provided for infants/toddlers if they exhibit developmental delays in any of the following areas: cognitive, communication, social/emotional, adaptive, physical, and motor development. Early intervention focuses on introducing functional communication, learner readiness skills for preschool, and supporting parents/caregivers.
Parent/Caregiver participation and education is a crucial part of both ABA and early intervention services. Together, we work as a team to support your child. It has been proven that parents who are actively involved in their child’s therapy often see more progress and better outcomes. Our clinical team is trained to build success for the entire family unit.
